National park calls for volunteers to make visits memorable

The team at the North York Moors National Park is on the look out for volunteers interested in spreading the word about the popular visitor attraction.

The park authority is seeking volunteers who can help answer questions from the public about what's on offer as well as the wildlife and heritage of the area.

Each year, volunteers contribute more than 11,000 days. New recruits will be part of the team at Sutton Bank National Park Centre, welcoming visitors, setting up events and keeping the building and its grounds tidy.

The team also needs help to deliver publications to shops and attractions around the national park, attend agricultural shows and provide an information service at Spout House, a 16th century, thatched cruck-framed house in Bilsdale which the authority manages.

A minimum commitment of 12 days between March and November is required and no previous experience is necessary. Benefit include discounts at the national park centres and a mileage allowance.
